Reinbert de Leeuw is a well-known performer of the work of Erik Satie. Satie was introduced as a “gymnopedist” in 1887, shortly before writing his most famous compositions, the “Gymnopédies”. It’s one of the compositions which can be found on the second volume of his Early Piano Works. For the fans of classical music an essential album for your record collection.
Dutch composer, pianist and conductor Reinbert de Leeuw rose to fame during the ’70s, with his performances from the repertoire of George Antheil and Erik Satie, among others. Later he was the artistic leader of different orchestras and academics. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, Reinbert de Leeuw was decorated with Knight of Order of the Netherlands Lion. Besides he won different music awards.
In celebration of the 80th Birthday of Reinbert de Leeuw his early pianoworks are now available again on vinyl.
