The Jamaican Sonia Pottinger was once called “The most important Jamaican woman involved in music business”. Dancing Down Orange Street is a collection of some of her famous productions for different artists. The album captures the moment when Rocksteady transformed into Reggae by speeding up a little and moving towards a more jerky and less smooth musical palette. Famous singers as Delano Stewart and Ken Boothe are present on the album with multiple tracks. The vocal trio The Melodians (known for their hit Rivers of Babylon) provide a couple of beutifull songs. Even after all those years (released for the first time in 1969) the compilation remains a treasure of showcasing some of the finest songs produced by Sonia.Sonia Pottinger was married to music producer Lyndon Pottinger and started to record musicians in 1996. During the late 60’s she produced songs for Joe White, The Melodians and Toots & the Maytals.
